The first place you’ll want to add Cloud+ is to your Construction Profile’s toolbar on the right panel. Make sure you’re in the Construction Profile, then:
1. Navigate to View | Toolbars | Customize.

2. Change the Toolbar categories to either Markup or All.
3. Scroll down the Commands and click on Cloud+.
4. In the Toolbar section select Shapes so the shapes appear in Items section.
5. Click the right arrow symbol (add command) so that the Cloud+ tool appears in the Item section.
6. Use the Up/Down arrows to position the Cloud+ just above or below the Cloud tool.
7. Click OK to Save it.
Repeat this process in any profile and on any toolbar you want Cloud+ added.

The second place to add Cloud+ is in the Design Review Profile so that the Architect’s, Engineer’s and Contractor’s Review Tool Sets had the Cloud+ in their appropriate color scheme. Make sure you are in the Design Review Profile with any PDF document opened.
1. Place a Cloud+ markup on the document (if you haven’t added it yet to this profile, you’ll find it in Markup | Shapes or use the shortcut “K”.
2. With your Tool Chest in the left panel, right click on the cloud tool in the Architect’s Review Tool Set, and select the Paint Format and click on the cloud portion of the Cloud+ markup you already have placed. This paint the cloud portion of the Cloud+ with the Architect’s color palette.
3. Click ESC to exit Paint Format.
4. Drag and drop the Cloud+ (now with the Architect’s color palette) from the Recent Tools to the Architect Review Tool Set
5. Right click on the Callout tool in the Architect’s Review Tool Set, and select the Paint Format and click on the callout portion of the Cloud+ markup you already have placed. This paint the callout portion of the Cloud+ with the Architect’s color palette.
6. Repeat steps 2 ,3 and 4 for the remaining Engineer’s and Contractor’s Review Tool Sets. And any other custom tool Sets you may have created for other collaborators.
7. View | Profiles (the arrow next to profiles) and click Save Profile

To Import or Export Profiles so you can share these changes with others, search for Importing and Exporting Profiles in the Help menu (F1).

Many construction firms hyperlink RFIs on their plans. They cloud the area pertaining to the RFI, add a text box and type in “RFI-100” then add the hyperlink. This tip shows you how to make the text box auto fill with the next available number on your document. You’ll want to add this to your custom tool today!

Create a text box with no text in it.
In the toolchest, drag it to My Tools or the tool set of your choice
[Optional] Change the properties to your preference liking (color, fill, check the autosize, etc).
Right click on the newly created tool and select Sequence | Define
You will then have this dialogue box display below where you can type into the Prefix “RFI-“.

Uncheck the “Renumber when markups deleted”

This tool will work like other autosequence tools so it will increment the RFI number for you within the text box. Should you want to use the same number on multiple sheets within the same document you will need to create a separate tool for static RFI numbering (a plain text box with RFI-# in the text area).

Be careful in your tool creation as you can choose document or page for sequencing. Also be aware if you check “Renumber when Markups Deleted” and delete an already placed RFI it can create lots of work to correct.

Best practice: If you have multiple places that reference the same RFI, place the RFI text boxes on the document before hyperlinking. You can then have it search for them all and hyperlink them all at once rather than one at a time.

Here’s how to create a simple symbol with dynamic text:
In Bluebeam Revu, Dynamic Text is not directly supported in symbols, however you can include a stamp that contains dynamic text. The dynamic text is updated when the symbol is added to the PDF.

Here is a quick example of creating a symbol that includes dynamic text:
1. Add the DateTime stamp to the PDF.
2. Create a Rectangle around the stamp. (You can use other markups like cloud, etc)
3. Select and then Group them. (Lasso them together and then press Ctrl-G).
4. Right-click and then click Add to Tool Chest. (or drag the grouped item into your tool chest of choice)
5. Add the symbol to the PDF.

The dynamic text for the date and time are updated when the symbol is added to the PDF. Now go get ’em Bluebeamers!
